$232 profits in July

Happy (nearly) August! Time for the monthly wrap up for this public portfolio in July. For the updates this week:

  1. $232 profit across 5 trades in July

  2. $70 profit in Best Buy (BBY)

$232 profit in July

In terms of new trades, there wasn't a lot of opportunity in July. Sadly, earnings season has not brought too much volatility, which means not too many choices for new trades. However, a relatively stable month meant it was a good time to take off older trades, with 4 out of 5 trades being closed for profits this month. New trades in July:

  • Trade #35 PEP - closed for $53 profit

  • Trade #36 TXN - still open

Older trades:

  • Trade #27 NKE - closed for $32 profit

  • Trade #29 BBY - closed for $70 profit

  • Trade #32 ABBV - closed for $42 profit

  • Trade #33 SBUX - closed for $35 profit

  • Trade #34 NKE - still open

Running total of realised profits since the course's inception:

  • Sep 2022 - $100

  • Oct 2022 - $180

  • Nov 2022 - $219

  • Dec 2022 - $211

  • Jan 2023 - $142

  • Feb 2023 - $92

  • Mar 2023 - $188

  • Apr 2023 - $192

  • May 2023 - $214

  • June 2023 - $1,109

  • July 2023 - $232

Running monthly average = $261.70 If you're familiar with options and want to follow along the trade updates, you can sign up for my Bread Crumb subscription which is priced at $49/month. i.e. over the last 11 months you would have paid $539 and made $2,879 - or 5.3x the subscription fee. Do note none of these are recommendations - I'm just sharing trade updates within my own portfolio which may or may not be right for you.

$70 profit in BBY

Nearly 2 months ago BBY was showing the perfect set up, so I decided to enter a put ratio spread, selling the $65/65.70 put ratio spread for $70 credit. BBY then proceeded to rally hard all the way to $80+, and the position was never in any trouble, so I decided to leave it on for 100% profit.

Put ratio spreads are one of the strategies I teach in my options course, and they're one of my favourite trades because they require very minimal management.

You can see from the screenshot above, I placed the trade on Jun 1 and just left it all the way to expire.

Even if I did need to adjust the trade, I would probably only do so in the last week before expiry, so it's really good for people who don't have time or don't want to check their positions all the time.

This is my 10th profitable trade in BBY so far in 2023, netting a total of $601 realised profit so far.

I have 3 previous profitable trades listed on my website, which you can check out at the link below.
