Happy Sunday!
This past week wrapped up 8 weeks of live training for my hybrid pilot course which ran from 27 March to 15 May - basically throughout the highest period of volatility in the last 5 years.
Here are the stats for the trades over these 8 weeks:
Total trades: 13
Profitable trades: 9 (including 1 rolled trade)
Trades still open: 4
Realized profit from 9 trades = $1,347 (150% of course fees).
No positions were assigned, no liquidation events took place.
Of course this is a bit of an anomaly and the returns are boosted due to the increase in volatility, but the point is that trading through periods of volatility can be profitable, as long as there's proper risk management in place.
My next course will be the final intake for 2025. It will once again be a hybrid course with all the recorded classes being released to watch on demand, with 8 week of live training running from 10 July to 28 August (I previously shared different dates on Instagram, these are the correct dates).

This week:
$180 profit in Hershey (HSY)
$135 profit in Procter & Gamble (PG)
$135 profit in PG
At PG's last earnings announcement, the market didn't like what they had to say and sent the stock down from about $166 to just under $160.
I took the opportunity to sell a cash-secured put at the $150 strike, expiring June 20 for an initial premium of $2.35.

Fast forward to this past Monday and the trade hit my profit target and closed for $1.00.
This was a realized profit of $135 (57% of max profit).
PG was actually trading lower than when I placed the trade on, which normally wouldn't result in a profitable trade. But because this trade was placed during a period of high volatility, the amount of premium in the trade actually decreased as volatility went down, helping to secure the profit.
As I often state in my course, this is one of the benefits of selling options - I don't necessarily need to get the direction of the move correct, I just need overall market conditions to work in my favor.
This makes it 5 wins from 5 PG trades so far in 2025, with a total of $603 realized profit across these trades.

$180 profit in HSY
HSY announced earnings on 1 May and the stock dropped, creating a good entry point for a new trade.
I sold a cash-secured put at the $150 strike, expiring June 20 for an initial premium of $2.50.Similar to the PG trade, my plan was to wait for the initial post-earnings volatility to subside, and then take the trade off for a profit.
This happened just 8 trading days later, and I closed the trade for $70, which means I locked in realized profit of $180 or 72% of max profit.

Closing thoughts & useful links
Volatility is just about the lowest it's been in the last couple of months with the VIX closing under 18 on Friday.
At the same time the market has turned (slightly) positive for the year, erasing all the losses from the tariff debacle.
Whether this new relatively calmer period is here to stay is anyone's guess, and I'll be waiting for opportunities to come along to deploy more capital.
Have a good weekend!
