Happy weekend!
My latest July options course wrapped up with last Friday's expiration and I thought I'd share the outcome with you.
If the course in March was the best time for selling options, this course in July was probably the most challenging time so far in 2025, with the stock market continually grinding higher and volatility at lows for the year. Thankfully there were still opportunities to take advantage of.
Here are the stats for the trades during the course:
8 trades placed
7 wins
1 trade open (with a roll)
0 assignments
0 liquidation events
$910 realized profit

Just a reminder that I'll be opening registration for my 2026 course in about a month. You'll get instant access to all the course material and the live coaching sessions are scheduled to take place every Thursday from 8 Jan 2026 to 26 Feb 2026 from 9:30am ET when the market opens.
So if you want to hit 2026 running and start creating a new income stream for yourself, look out for the link coming very soon.
This week:
$70 profit in CLX
$70 profit in CLX
CLX kept dropping throughout August and I tried to enter a trade a couple of times before finally selling the Sep 19 $115 cash-secured put for $1.35 in premium.
I posted this as a bonus trade, which usually means there is at least one element of the trade that may warrant some caution. In CLX, it was that it has been trending downwards since July, and could continue to do so, which would be bad news for this trade.
Even then, on balance I felt that there was enough reward for the risk, especially in a difficult environment, and wanted to put some capital to work.

This turned out to be accurate, as the position closed 13 trading days later for a realized profit of $70, or about 52% of max profit.
You would have seen that I've been letting trades run to 60%-75% profit recently, but because of CLX's trend, I decided to take profits early and move on.
This makes it 5 wins from 5 CLX trades so far in 2025, with a total of $970 realized profit across these trades.
As always all the trades within this portfolio are updated in close to real-time to my private community, and you can find out more about my private community at the link below.
Closing thoughts & useful links
The market got what they wanted with an interest rate cut this week, which sent the markets to all-time highs (again).
Market highs aren't good for most people (who wants to buy high and sell low?). Like I mentioned at the top, even though it's a challenging period, there will still be pockets of opportunity to jump on, and I did manage to open two new trades in MCD and KR this week, which I'll update here when they've closed.
Have a good weekend!
