Happy weekend!

Gentle reminder that the link to indicate interest for my “baby steps” options course is still open.

I will be running a pilot for a small group of participants on 6 November 2026, 8pm US Eastern Time. If you are interested in joining this pilot, please add your email address to this form.

And of course you can also find out more about it here.

This week:

  1. $75 profit in Clorox (CLX)

$75 profit in CLX

The best trades are boring trades, and this CLX trade was as boring as they come.

In September, CLX had a bad day and hit my trade entry guidelines so I just followed the strategy and entered the trade, selling the $80 cash-secured put expiring Oct 16 for $120 credit.

While CLX did drop as low as $80.41 over this period, it never went below $80, which means it stayed out of the money, so it was just a matter of waiting for the extrinsic value of the cash-secured put to drop.

$75 realized profit from selling a cash-secured put in CLX stock

Eventually with about 2 weeks left to expiry, I paid $45 to close the position resulting in $75 realized profit, or about 63% of max profit.

I've had CLX in my portfolio for a few years now, so each profitable trade is actively reducing my original cost basis in the stock.

In 2024 the number was $1,981, $970 in 2025 and $150 so far in 2026.

This trade (and all trades in this newsletter) are shared in close-to real time to my private community as updates in my own portfolio (not recommendations). If you're familiar with the basic mechanics of options, you can consider joining the private community to view these updates as well.

And of course the guidance for managing and closing both trades were posted to the community as well.

Have a good weekend!
